DIY: Lip Gloss

Beauty DIY
I’ve been researching lots of DIY recipes lately and came across this recipe for Kool-Aid Lip Gloss. There are only two ingredients and the instructions are very straightforward and easy to follow so I thought it would be fun to share it with all of you!

Ingredients
  • 1 tub of petroleum jelly (Vaseline)
  • 1 package of Kool-Aid drink crystals (use your favorite flavor!)
  • About 10 lip gloss containers or small tubs to put the lip gloss into
Instructions
  1. Put 1 cup of Vaseline into a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30-second increments (stir between each heating) until the Vaseline is melted into liquid form. It should take about 7 to 8 minutes. You can also melt it on the stove.
  2. Once the Vaseline is liquid (it will be very hot!!!), remove the bowl from the microwave (carefully!) and slowly stir in Kool-Aid until you get the color you want—the more you add the darker the color, so add it in gradually. Keep stirring the Kool-Aid until the crystals are totally dissolved in the Vaseline. Note: If the mixture starts to solidify while you’re mixing in the Kool-Aid, you can heat it again in the microwave for another 30 seconds.
  3. Pour the mixture into lip gloss containers or airtight tubs. Let it set for a few hours to allow the gloss to solidify.
See, it was easy isn’t it? I really liked this recipe because Vaseline is great for dry, chapped lips since it’s petroleum jelly, which is one of the most common ingredients in lip balms. The Vaseline will help to lock in moisture while the Kool-Aid will leave you lips looking lush and tasting sweet. Yum!

Try this out and let me know how you like it!
